When using highlighting, the _source itself is not relevant any more. Going forward, the connector should provide support for this potentially by capturing the extra information under dedicated headers.

This is still a major unsolved issue. In the latest es-hadoop, not only highlighting is not returned, the highlighting and post_filter parts of the original query are removed

i see this issue is still open.

are there plans to add this feature any time soon?

@costin Any plans to include this request? For the read path, we actually need inner_hits segment, which is also being ignored by the Parser. Any possible work-arounds?

@costin is it still under development. I wanted to access inner_hits from the response of elastic search and I cannot access it from the metadata column
