Prerequisites

  • I have searched for similar issues in both open and closed tickets and cannot find a duplicate.
  • The issue still exists against the latest stable version of Elementor.

Description

If I set a featured image as a dynamic background for a column in a single post template, it is only shown in editor mode:
elementor_featuredimage_columnbackground_bug_1

... but not in preview or live mode:
elementor_featuredimage_columnbackground_bug_2

Steps to reproduce

  1. Happens consistent, so first step can be fresh WordPress install.
  2. I used Twenty Fifteen default theme.
  3. Make a test post with featured image.
  4. Make a Single Post template.
  5. Put some stuff into section and place featured image to column with content as dynamic background "Style > Background > Normal > Background Type Classic > Image > Dynamic > Post Featured Image".
  6. Save or preview. In editor the image is shown, in preview or live site not (background-image property is missing).

Isolating the problem

  • This bug happens with only Elementor plugin active (and Elementor Pro).
  • This bug happens with a default WordPress theme active.
  • I can reproduce this bug consistently using the steps above.

I can confirm this issue is happening here as well, at first I thought it was a CPT-related issue but it seems like it affects all uses of Dynamic Featured Images on column backgrounds whether it's a post, page, or CPT item.

One workaround is the set the Dynamic Featured Image on the section background (not the column) but that's not an ideal solution.

Hello, i'm trying to display an ACF image field as background of a section, but it's not showing up. See: https://prntscr.com/mx2r2t
