Installation

Before installing, exit any competing controller management tools like Handheld Companion or Winhanced to avoid conflicts.

Tip

On a handheld, just run Install.bat. It auto-elevates, installs everything, and closes itself afterwards — no keyboard input required at any point. This is the easiest path when you don't have a keyboard attached.

Setup process:

  1. Extract the ZIP file to your chosen directory
  2. Run Install.bat with administrator privileges
  3. Confirm the UAC prompt
  4. Enable Gaming in Xbox Game Bar (Win + G)
  5. Locate and position the ClawTweaks widget on the left side
  6. Confirm the background UAC prompt on first launch
  7. Disable MSI Center M in the Main tab to unlock all features
  8. Enable Virtual Controller & Mouse in the Controls tab
  9. By default you can switch between Mouse and Controller mode with Start + Select

Important

No controller input? If nothing on the controller works and the left stick only moves the mouse cursor, the MSI Claw's hardware mouse/controller switch is in mouse mode. Hold the Start button for at least 3 seconds to switch it back to controller mode.

Note

Reordering widgets: remove and re-add them in the desired sequence to change their order.

The installer uses a self-signed certificate (CN=ClawTweaks Dev) with automatic trust handling.

What's New

New features

  • Launcher quick-actions — a new "Launcher Actions" category lets you open Steam Big Picture, Playnite (Fullscreen) or the Xbox app straight from a tile, a controller button combo, or the left MSI OEM (CLAW) button. For example, map the left OEM button to jump directly into Steam Big Picture. It works whether the launcher is already running in the background or not yet started — and even while the Game Bar is closed.
  • Controller-hotkey indicator on tiles — any tile that has a controller combo assigned now shows a small teal dot, and keeping focus on the tile reveals the exact button combo.
  • On-screen keyboard tile — open the touch keyboard from a tile or a controller hotkey (also works with the Game Bar closed), and the assigned hotkey is now remembered across restarts.
  • Per-game performance profile — now shows the running game's icon and a clearer On / Off · Global status, matching the Controls tab.

Improvements

  • RTSS FPS limit now reliably takes effect right at game start — no more nudging the value to make the cap apply.
  • The active FPS cap is shown in the overlay immediately on launch, and the overlay hotkey now shows the overlay type name (including "Off").
  • Controller (D-Pad) navigation in the Performance tab is now consistent end-to-end.
  • Installer: no key press needed to start, and the window closes automatically after a successful install.
  • Tidied up the System tab's debug section: work-in-progress actions (update checks, data export/import) are now clearly marked Coming Soon, the uninstall helper is hidden for now, and labels were corrected to ClawTweaks.

Fixes

  • Fixed occasional widget hiccups when processing certain background messages.
  • Fixed the Controller/Mouse mode hotkey toggling twice (so it appeared to do nothing).
  • Saved profile cards now show the same values as the live "Now Playing" card.
