I have no idea what I'm doing so it would be nice to see how to build statsd as a debian package.

The debian maintainer guide describes how to build packages. Closing this since it's not really a StatsD issue.

The init/upstart scripts are useful. Saves folks from having to dig one up. Retain those in the utils directory?

Hey hope someone finds this useful.

apt-get install debhelper devscripts
git clone https://github.com/etsy/statsd.git
cd statsd
dpkg-buildpackage
dpkg -i ../<deb file>

@unscene - super helpful - thanks! however - wish the changelog file was being updated properly from time to time.
