We want to make everware more usable, especially for users that don't know how docker and jupyter work.
Here are some key points from our meeting with Ricardo:

  • Clearly state the problem that everware solves on the front page
  • Clearly state what people need to use everware (github account, what kind of github repository?)
  • Overhaul vocabulary (like "Launch notebook" instead of "spawn")
  • What will the user get when they click spawn? → visualize or explain
  • Show something interesting while the user is waiting for the container to build ("Please consider the environment before printing this notebook")
  • Rename "My Server" button to something like "Back to notebook"
  • Super short summary "Everware allows you to open interactive Jupyter notebooks in the cloud. You can use it to run research code with the click of a button"

One question that came up yesterday was: How to preview the templates without having to install and fire up a whole everware instance.

@RaoOfPhysics this is the issue with non coding stuff that could do with some help. We could work on making a short sentence that explains everware to people. Probably best to open a new issue if we want to discuss things.

@mickypaganini worked on some of the HTML template issues yesterday.

Cool, maybe @mickypaganini wants to start a [WIP] pull request?
