Firefox

As far as I can tell Iminent is not available on the add-on store (https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/search/?q=Iminent&appver=&platform=). But sources suggest users infected through an executable will end up with a Firefox extension installed anyway, so users should check for anything containing the word "Iminent"

Rational

According to the reviews of the application on the Google Web Store Iminent does the following evil things:

DO NOT INSTALL THIS EXTENSION OR ANYTHING TO DO WITH IT.
What it does:

  • Hijacks adverts (Google Ads) and replaces it with Iminent's adverts. Therefore the people running websites don't make money, iminent do.
  • Adds more adverts to your pages, if there isn't enough anyway.
  • If you post 'emoticons' it often advertises Iminent to your friends so they can get infected too! (How cute).

This is MALWARE (Adware) and it's a shame that this was allowed to be published on the Chrome Webstore.

It is also listed in How To Geeks' Article - Your Browser Extensions Are Spying On You under Adware

I will PR the Chrome part tomorrow. Still feeling out how to do FF ones (need to read up on how extensions work and such more). I'm amazed Google lets this one stand if it messes with Google ads.
