We are using plain old memset, memcpy and memmove everywhere but we could possibly squeeze out a bunch more performance by using custom functions. For example by taking advantage of that most heap objects are small and when gc:ing the nursery we are always copying objects to higher addresses, but when compacting always to lower addresses.
