This is only a recent issue as I had cower on this machine before (v3.0.4-1). Why it is broken now I don't know. I run makepkg and I get:

...
==> Starting build()...
cc --std=c99 -g -pedantic -Wall -Wextra -Werror -march=x86-64 -mtune=generic -O2 -pipe -fstack-protector --param=ssp-buffer-size=4
cc: fatal error: no input files
compilation terminated.
make: *** [cower.o] Error 1
==> ERROR: A failure occurred in build().
    Aborting...

Any help with this would be greatly appreciated. I get the feeling it is something stupid.
Thanks very much.

No input files means there's nothing to compile. The Makefile uses a wildcard rule to find the source (which is silly given that its a single file), but I can't tell you what you've done wrong without seeing into your machine. I can only add that the PKGBUILD and tarball work for me.

You got me thinking about something and I checked my /etc/makepkg.conf file and discovered that my compile commands were wrapped to two lines. Fixing this solved the problem. It was something silly after all!

Thanks very much for your time and your wonderful utility.
