create_cnn requires write access to data dir #1525

fastai : 1.0.42
On Floydhub, create_cnn results in an exception as it requires write access to the directory where the source data resides, as shown in this thread. As pointed out by @ReDeiPirati best practice is to separate data from code, so my request is that this behaviour be changed.

You can pass an argument called model_path to your Learner (and in create_cnn in particular) to indicate where you want your models saved. If you pass a Path object pointing to the exact directory you want to use, it will replace the default of learn.path/'models'.
I think that solves your problem.
