I have android Synchthing and I installed the alpha version of Omni Notes because of the .json format of notes. Then I setup Omni notes _autobackup folder as the target sync folder. I saw new .jsons appear there when notes are saved.

Then I paired the second android phone, and setup the same folder for synchronization.

Creatingnew notes works ok. They appear when the app starts. But deleting and updating notes doesn't work right. When one android updates a note .json, the note disappears on the other one. But the .json is still there.

How hard would it be to make the app acknowledge changes in the autobackup folder?

After some more testing, it seems it works better than I thought. Note updates show after some time. It could be better, but this is still the best looking notes app that kinda supports Synchthing.

Ok, I guess Omni Notes loads the autobackup every time it is started. It would be great if Omni Notes had a "auto restore" setting that when turned on, watched the autobackup directory, and reloaded any changed notes. Than any sync type, be it Synchthing, webdav or other, could work with it, without further changes.

The problem is that observing file changes is quite heavy computationally speaking so is not that much reccomandable when dealing with mobile devices

Moreover the currently released alpha version is both really outdated and has a couple of blocking bugs in auto-backup process. I've aligned the code with the current stable and I'm working on automatic tests to ensure no regression bugs will be intriduced during further developments on this feature
