I am aware as you commented in #52 that enabling widgets only in specific virtual space is not possible. So I was hoping there was a feature to enable and disable a set of widgets so that when I switch between spaces I would quickly get the widgets I want to display in that space. I hope it was not too difficult to achieve.

Cool, marked as a feature request. Not sure it is something will work on anytime soon TBH.
I think, since you can enable/disable widget using AppleScript now, you might be able to script something like this yourself. If you are using something like Alfred you could even trigger the scripts to enable a specific widget set using a keyboard command
