What feature or improvement do you think would benefit Files?

This is a feature in Windows 10 File Explorer which is absent in Windows 11 File Explorer, and Files. When highlighting/selecting multiple files, of the same file type, in Windows 10, the total file size of all the combined items is shown in the Details Pane. When selecting multiple audio or video files, which is how I use it, in addition to cumulative file size, the total file length is shown. This is helpful because I want to limit a specific selection of MP3 files shared with some other users to not more than four hours, and I can see my result right away.

Full disclosure: this information is available in Windows 10 and 11 by right-clicking the selected files and go to Properties/Details and the totals will be shown. In Windows 10 Filer Explorer, this information is right there in the Details Pane without the extra hoops of adding multiple mouse clicks involving a separate outside program.

This would improve Files by adding a feature not available in Windows 11 File Explorer. It should be brought forward and not left behind in Windows 10.

Requirements

  • This proposal will accomplish added convenience.
  • This proposal will accomplish adding back a feature from Windows 10, but lost in Windows 11.
  • This proposal will accomplish avoiding additional unnecessary mouse clicks involving an additional outside program.

Files Version

4.0.11.0

Windows Version

10.0.26200.7171

Comments

I'm using Files on Windows 11. It is not responding on Windows 10.
