I couldn't find a way to do this outside of the SETTIMEVAL in scripting but
it would be nice to have a way of going to a particular time without having
to guess where to click on the time bar. A dialog box where one could type
in a time value and go to it.

try the smokeview I just posted (revision 6187). There is a spinner to set the time
in the file/bounds dialog box. smokeview goes to the nearest timestep time value for
the time you specify. Also, you can't specify time values outside of the time limits
of the data you've currently loaded. Let me know if you see any problems.

I'm thinking about a better place to put this widget and the other two for setting
colorbar properties. Let me know if you have any suggestions. (the logical place
for the colorbar widgets would be in the colorbar editor but they also belong near
the widgets for setting data bounds)

Glenn,

Any smv file I try to load (Windows XP) crashes this version of Smokeview.

I think this is a problem with where I built it. I'm having problems building
smokeview on my new laptop. The one I just posted was built with my old laptop.
Even though this was built with the same revision number, it should work. Let me
know if you continue to see problems.

That one works. Time feature works as well.

Should all the time options eventually be collected into a dialog? Where one could
pick a specific time, pick a skip for playback (either frame or time interval), or
pick a frame rate, and maybe the time interval for loading data (or is that in
another menu somewhere)?

that makes sense. The present location of this time widget was just a stop gap. I
didn't like it there but had not thought out a good plan. I had forgotten all the
other time loading features - it makes sense for them to be in there own dialog tab.

this is just an fyi: jason, the test smokeview I just posted is an interim change.
Haven't really added anything with respect to this issue but am now putting the "set
time" widget in its own dialog panel. I plan to add other related widgets for controlling
data loading with respect to time (ie start time, stop time, skip time interval etc).
Now I have various skip intervals for each data type. I plan to simplify smokeview
internals by using only on skip interval for all data variables. This should also
simplify the user interface.

I also added a separate panel of widgets for controlling how you color data.

The change I am really testing with this release is a new way to draw line contours
by making a portion of the colorbar transparent (those portions between uniformly space
strips within the colorbar). Before line contouring was only implemented for PLOT3D
files. Now you can use line contouring for slice, plot3d or boundary files.
