Endless OS users, myself included, sometimes wish this app were available; spurred on by a discussion on a Telegram group, I threw together a manifest.

TODO:

  • Remove many libcanberra files
  • Update *mm dependencies (ideally adding them to shared-modules)
  • Rewrite manifest to YAML, with consistent layout
  • Explain --disable-oss (libcanberra's configure prints a SHOUTY
WARNING if you leave it enabled)
  • Add appdata
  • Add screenshots
  • Upstream appdata
Initial commit of pavucontrol manifest

* [ ] Add (and upstream) appdata

@ford-prefect FYI. Would anyone in the PulseAudio team be interested in maintaining this (ie, updating pavucontrol and its dependencies when a new release is made) if I finish this?

@wjt I'm happy to help shepherd this, and can drop a note on the PulseAudio list once we have it in place to get some more volunteers.

Add appdata
The name and summary are taken from the upstream .desktop file; the
description is taken from from
https://freedesktop.org/software/pulseaudio/pavucontrol/.

Aside from the question of translations (which would be best addressed
by upstreaming this) it fails `appstream-util validate`:

• style-invalid : org.pulseaudio.pavucontrol: Not enough <screenshot> tags, minimum is 1
• style-invalid : org.pulseaudio.pavucontrol: <summary> is shorter than <name>
• style-invalid : org.pulseaudio.pavucontrol: Not enough <p> tags for a good description [1/2]

Endless OS has a non-default titlebar for apps like this which do not
use GtkHeaderBar; upstream may prefer to take a screenshot on a more
vanilla environment.

I successfully tried pavucontrol on Q4OS (Debian Stretch based distro) and EndlessOS and it seems to work properly. But I probably scratched only the surface of the what pavucontrol provides, so use my results with caution.
