@GrahamCampbell

@taylorotwell is right, you can't do this to him man! You'd be better to fork the laravel repo, and not change all the namespacing.

@GrahamCampbell

@flyphp. If you don't follow @taylorotwell's license, he can have this repository removed from github as it is a violation of his copyright.

@mikedugan

@flyphp get with the program. Aside from bad ethics, there's bad karma. You'll do more harm to yourself than @taylorotwell...the community isn't stupid

@assertchris

You are breaking the terms of the MIT license under which Laravel 4 is made available to you. It's unethical and stupid. Leave all of Taylor's copyright notices in the code or create your own damn framework.

@GrahamCampbell

I still don't understand why you needed to rip the framework like this. Why couldn't you just write packages for laravel instead?

@renege

"If you are the copyright holder and want to have the content removed, please file a DMCA takedown with us via email. Instructions, examples, and policy details are available here:

http://help.github.com/dmca-takedown

If you are not the copyright holder, please contact them about this matter and have them file a DMCA takedown with us."

@GrahamCampbell

Should we all contact them, or should we leave it to @taylorotwell?

@juukie

Be a réal smart guy and respect the work Taylor and others have done. Restore the copyrights!

@lstables

You absolute loser why nick someone else's hard work then ship as your own. You are obviously incapable of producing such work Taylor has done and like many people have said here you will be worse off then Taylor the php community isn't stupid. I would suggest you get rid of this repo and go and get a job you sad low life piece of shit.

@GrahamCampbell

Yep, either you sort this out, or I will not sleep until the github staff have this forcefully removed.

@antonioribeiro

Allan, você sabe que isso é roubo de propriedade intelectual, não sabe? Por favor restaure os direitos de cópia de Taylor Otwell. O documento que segue fala um pouco a respeito desta questão no Brasil:

http://www.acadepol.sc.gov.br/index.php/download/doc_view/21-propriedade-intelectual

@antonioribeiro

Unfortunately, the person related to this project, Allan Freitas (https://github.com/allanfreitas?tab=repositories) is a Brazilian, like myself.

Our country adheres to the TRIPs and the World Intellectual Property Organization. And in my post in portuguese tried to show that our police enforces this here, so I pointed him to a paper written by Giancarlo Rossini, a chief of a police precinct in one of our states, stating exactly this. One complaint, international or not, and his life surely becomes a nightmare.

@robclancy

So many haters. This framework looks great. I hope you do well and that we see nice new exciting things :)

@lstables

This framework, hardly a framework when it's copied from Laravel!

@robclancy

So by that logic Laravel isn't a framework?

@GrahamCampbell

@robclancy We are complaining because this is Taylor's intellectual property and his name has been stripped from the license.

@lstables

No I mean Laravel is a a framework but this FlyPHP is just a copy of Laravel!

@ShawnMcCool

I like that it has a lot of documentation.

@robclancy

Then by definition FlyPHP is a framework?

@mikedugan

@ShawnMcCool right? for their docs they swapped out some words, and moved the nav column to the right side...my god the plagiarism is rampant here!

@lstables

Not really no when it's a copy the whole http://flyphp.org/ even has copied documentation says alot for people backing it and supporting it! Time to back and support Taylor and Laravel and stop been nobs

@mikedugan

maybe it's time to do some nmapping and scripting to fix their website ;)

@robclancy

@lstables but Laravel is framework. This is apparently copied from Laravel. So therefore this is framework. There is no logical way you can say this is not a framework. Did the framework gods deny it?

@mjdugan14 no

@lstables

Well whatever, either the license shouldn't be changed and tried to ship as a new framework when all the codebase is in fact Laravel.

@GrahamCampbell

@robclancy Your trolling on this issue is not helping. Can you please take this seriously.

@lstables

@GrahamCampbell is right he has produced a Bootstrap CMS utilising Laravel but not changed the code base nor as he changed the license, so maybe the guy behind FlyPHP needs to take a leaf outta his book. stop ripping stuff off and trying to ship as your own Graham as got it right! FlyPHP hasn't

@robclancy

I'm not trolling. You guys are all up in his face and someone needs to have his back for this amazing work!

@lstables

What the fuck are you on! His amazing work, You mean @taylorotwell's work!

@GrahamCampbell

@lstables exactly! Thank you @taylorotwell for the hundreds of hours you have put into Laravel.

@lstables

Totally with @GrahamCampbell and many other on this. There's always one idiot that back such a stupid idea....Ripping, trolling someone else idea and work.

@GrahamCampbell

@lstables and @taylorotwell. Can you submit a copyright claim to copyright@github.com. I already have. It ideally needs to come from the copyright holder, which is @taylorotwell.

@lstables

@GrahamCampbell Already have dude and yes @taylorotwell should do the same!

@GrahamCampbell

@robclancy and you say you are not trolling... I am sick of that image. :(

@lstables

@robclancy obviously isn't over the age of 20 nor does he have a job. Nor does he have anything sensible or constructive to say.

exercise-troll

@robclancy

Ohshit. @lstables you're my new favourite idiot.

@GrahamCampbell

Guys, guys, focus...

@lstables

Good i'm glad I've made someone happy for the day!

Your my favorite douchebag :)

@robclancy

@GrahamCampbell stop taking everything so serious. It gets tiring.

@keevitaja

if this commit gets merged, will taylor become flyphp contributor?

@lstables

In fact am tired of this trolling bollox time to get a job dude!

@GrahamCampbell

@robclancy This is not a laughing matter. This is a serious violation of @taylorotwell's copyright, and all you can do is mess about.

@robclancy

@GrahamCampbell no actually, this is really funny. Taylor was also laughing about it. I like how you think some fork on github means something. It will just be removed.

@lstables you're the one acting like a kid. Trying to throw around insults but falling short dramatically.

@GrahamCampbell

@lstables. Don't take any notice of @robclancy. We both know who the idiot is here.

@lstables

Well whatever, I was just sticking up for someone @taylorotwell who has put in so many hours to make such a great framework and a couple of cockends decide to rip if off and try and ship it! One word - Losers

@robclancy

You seem new to the internet.

@lstables

@GrahamCampbell I haven't dude, clearly trolling is the way forward, I might try it sometime when I have nothing better to do

@robclancy

@lstables so now? Oh wait. This is where I try make an insult by calling you a lower age than myself.

such wit
    many buthurt
  so better
@lstables

Yeah good one haven't seen that before, I'm new to the internet....Thanks for sharing

@robclancy

You have made me feel young again. I thank you. Sometimes I feel so old and wise but then I realize I am just young and wise.

@lstables

Hey do you know any good php frameworks I can take a change a few namespace classes and then ship it has my own ?

Just so I can feel better about myself :)

@renege
@lstables

Yes that's a good one, might try that one

@lstables

@renege Very good you've found me well done you!

@robclancy

WordPRess is most used PHP framework.
You should probably use Rapid PHP or PHP Designer as your IDE as well. http://www.sitepoint.com/best-php-ide-2014-survey/. Windows only IDEs for PHP are best.

@lstables

Might use Dreamweaver, that seems to be all the rage!

@antonioribeiro

By this #2 I think anyone can tell that Robbo is being ironic, deeply ironic. But sometimes is hard to see a serious thread to become a troll's house. Robbo is known name in the Laravel Community, at least in the IRC so I don't think his intentions were evil.

Robbo, people in some situations think they need to sound serious so other people take them seriously. I love sounding sarcarstic, so I don't too agree with this every time, but this might be one of those and people just need to get mad when this kind of troll happens.

But what really matters is the outcome, right? If by trolling you can get him to rm -rf the whole thing, or just merge this PR, be my guest, actually, Taylor's guest, since this is his pull request.

As you said in your issue, managing a framework like Laravel is hard, just forking it is not enough, there would to have a lot of hours of work to do and enough people to test, use and help with it. But anyway, to see something like this happening might not be good, making a joke of it or not, having your name removed from something you worked like hell to build is far from something I could simply laugh of, but maybe it's just me. So if you think you're doing the right thing by transforming this thread in a bunch of hate posts, keep up. :+1:

@lstables

@antonioribeiro Agree, i just came on to voice my opinion and Robbo decided to intervene and start making jokes

@robclancy

Stop deflecting about the real issue here. Sitepoint articles are fucking horrible!

@lstables

@robclancy ok lets get this FlyPHP removed by not making fun and actually do something constructive!

@robclancy

Oh yes, my bad. I forgot that commenting on issues has the power to remove entire repositories from github.

We are all just part of the pale blue dot (great fucking song). And these comments mean fuck all to anyone.

@lstables

Or well, nevermind! Most go now am bored.

@luizpedone

I fully support what @antonioribeiro stated before. We, Brazilians, don't support this kind of behavior and hope that the responsibles for this repo come around to explain what they meant by copying Taylor's framework. Brazilian Laravel community deeply appreciate Taylor's. Personally I'm totally against copyright infractions.

@eduardocruz

I'm brazilian also ... SHAME ON YOU!!!

@killswitch

I am not Brazilian, but @robclancy had me in tears. Nice PR @taylorotwell :+1:

@jtreminio

Wait, I thought MIT license was the most open license possible? It's supposed to be the license when you simply want people to enjoy the code without having to worry about copyrights or anything similar, isn't it?

@Garbee

@lstables Um, "Let's get this FlyPHP removed...", yea, the point here is not to get it removed. It is to get the proper attribution to Taylor that he deserves.

The goal is to get Taylor proper attribution for his work on Laravel, he is the license holder and currently this fork is breaking the terms of the license by removing his name from it. If the maintainer decides that they will not pull in the license change to make the fork proper, then Taylor may decide to file a claim with Github or other organizations so they may work on protecting his rights. Taylor and Taylor alone may do that afaik. He is the rights holder and therefore it is his call on what happens if this PR fails.

@GrahamCampbell

@Garbee Exactly. But as @RSully hightlighted, it's not just Laravel this repo is infringing on. I will contact the rights holders of the other repos and alert them of this infringement...

@GrahamCampbell

It seems jeffery's repos say do whatever you like, so this repo isn't actually infringing on Laravel-4-Generators.

@Garbee

@GrahamCampbell Ok, so make another issue about the other rights being violated. This one is for Taylor's in particular.

@Bilge

muh copyright!

@robclancy

If I had an MIT license for something and he stole it here I would laugh at him. Just like other license holders here would. I license with DBAD. And this guy has even broken that one haha... wasn't sure it was possible.

@HiroKws

Actually Jeffery didn't said about license, however he didn't say waiver his right also. If so, it is normal copyright code. It means Jeffery hold it. So this package infringed his right also.

@thatonefreeman

Don't be a dick dude, put his name back in it. Its his work.

@kfogel

Fundamental issue is not about copyright, it's about accurate attribution and about not telling lies. Stripping the original author's name out and then claiming their work is your own is just fraud, pure and simple. It may be that the easiest tool available to punish this fraud is a copyright infringement claim, and that's fine, but the problem here is the fraud, not the copying. If FlyPHP had left accurate attribution in place, then there would be no problem here.

It's not the copying, it's the lying.

@padraic

You guys are taking being lunatics to a new level ;). Give the author some time to get around to the PR.

@taylorotwell You should also email him directly if you can locate his address - it looks like a dormant repo so he may not be paying it much attention. Not everyone gets Github PRs notices to their inbox. Your PR is also a non-starter since, if the author is responsible for any new code here, they are entitled to claim copyright on their portion also. You'll probably need to add back his name. The License doesn't specify a proportional credit scheme. I would also suggest putting your copyright and licence at the top of all Laravel files (going forward) which would require they be reproduced on all forks in all files which will guarantee anyone using the forked code knows where it comes from and who to credit. Unfortunately, when you don't protect all files by default, it's going to be hard to impress this on a subsequent fork in a satisfactory way.

The rest of you need a sedative...

@robclancy

You're not my mum.

@renan

Wow. So much hate on this thread. You guys should take it easy. Go take a hike or release your energies in another positive way. The attitude of calling him names is despicable!

If @taylorotwell wanted this repository to be take down I am sure he wouldn't have created this PR. He would instead contact Github and, knowing how fast Github support is, this repository would not be here anymore.

It is carnival in Brazil and this guy must be having a lot of fun partying as we speak. So give him a break and wait until he merges this PR. :)

Looking at the README and the documentation I see credits being given to the Laravel project. See this and this.
To me it seems like a honest mistake on the LICENSE file, the author probably don't understand the license.

@robclancy

This is clearly a troll framework and it worked a treat.

@kirkbushell

@renan that is naive in the extreme. This was designed as a "fork" for "own needs", not a new commercial framework. If I were to fork for my own needs, why the fuck would you rename everything and remove references ot Laravel. Oh, I know - because I want to take credit for someone else's work.

Own needs, really? Then why the website.

@rdohms

WOW! This is amazing, this is probably the best way ever to solve a simple problem. Cause yeah, the more trolling that happens in here the faster the author will do something about it.

I'm now just going to sit here and see how soon Godwin's Law will snap into place. We have already managed to blame the whole thing on Brazil, so it can't be that far off now.

Either take a chill pill, or let @taylorotwell initiate the DMCA takedown, this gang behavior is completely against good community behavior, is very immature and uncalled for.

@sineld

Shame on you.

@renan

@kirkbushell I think you are confusing Fork, in software development, with "Github Fork".

From Wikipedia's Fork:

The term often implies not merely a development branch, but a split in the developer community, a form of schism.

From Github's Fork A Repo:

At some point you may find yourself wanting to contribute to someone else's project, or would like to use someone's project as the starting point for your own.

Clearly the first definition was the one used on this project.

@kirkbushell Own needs, really? Then why the website.

Why not? Usually people create open source projects so there is collaborative effort to improve the code. Therefore creating a website only helps the project disseminate and gain more traction. IMO.

MIT says access to the code is granted free of charge. I am not here to assume anything, but he would have picked a different license if he wanted to sell the code itself.

@robclancy

@rdohms haha yep, because commenting on github forces things to happen. The power we have!

@padraic

@rdohms Don't feed the trolls :P

@harikt

@trq shall be included. Does that means it is a MUST ?

@Garbee
@harikt

@Garbee thanks for clarifying.

@taylorotwell

I'm not really mad about this or anything. Just wanted my name back on the license. No need for hysterics.

@robclancy

@taylorotwell not everything is about you

@enrichit

@robclancy I don't think it's entirely unreasonable to ask for someone to give you credit for your work.

The author could simply append his copyright rather than replacing it.

@killswitch

Nobody is saying Taylor shouldn't get credit for his work. Just saying that everyone is blowing this whole thing out of proportion and the only people who are upset about it aren't even the people or person who should be upset.

@killswitch

@kirkbushell This issue isn't even close to rape. Your argument is invalid.

@kirkbushell

@killswitch well done, point missed.

@robclancy

TIL: removing name from copyright should be treated like rape

@killswitch

This is ridiculous. Taylor wasn't raped. Taylor isn't upset. We weren't raped. We have no reason to be upset. There's no point to miss or get. The point is, you're getting upset about something that nobody should be upset about.

@robclancy

I think everyone should be pretty upset about how bad the quality of articles are over at sitepoint. The ones I linked are worse than rape for sure.

@Anahkiasen

Yeah and you know who raped people ? NAZIS.

You guys are being way too maniac-y on that issue, the guy did something clumsy, he didn't intend to win millions over Taylor's back, calm down.

@dshoreman

Aaaand there's Godwin's law. Didn't take long.

@Anahkiasen

In my defense throwing Godwin's law in the lot was kind of my point about this issue.

@stormpat

This thread is discusting.

@robclancy

@stormpat was linking sitepoint too much? :/ They are pretty disgusting articles

@dualbus

People: @robclancy is clearly a troll. There are some other trolls here too. If you reply to sie, you're just making things worse. Feeding sie. Just ignore that. @taylorotwell said all that was needed, further commenting is unnecessary.

(Yes, this might count as unnecessary, but I did it hoping that when you saw this, you stopped, and think about how your comment makes this thread better. Most likely, it won't).

@ibrahimyu

@dualbus you should look at the other issues and pull requests in this repository. It's hilarious.

@enrichit

People calm down. There is no need to be so upset, if Taylor want's to peruse this issue further there are ways he can do that. It's his problem, not yours.

Also, yes @robclancy is trolling. He is having a laugh at your expense.

@HiroKws

I think basically peoples are not so exciting. They told logically.
And this is our problem. Because this is about a licenses, so this is our open-source developers' problem.
If you overlook this kind of situation, you will kill open source. So just people told a lot.

@robclancy

Ohshit. Not only do we have the power to make github remove repositories on these comments but if we don't comment we have the power to kill open source!

@taylorotwell I'm sorry for that. I will explain the all my points for the community after I return from this week vacation. I've driven for 19miles to get signal on my cellphone to merge this pullrequest. I will return on next weekend and a I will answer all the replies here, on twitter and on facebook. Thanks for the pacient off all of you.

@renege
@robclancy

I appreciate all your continued hard work.

@bateller

@allanfreitas Thats all well and good, but why haven't you merged the awesome dragon enhancement yet? Are you trying to doom the awesome FlyPHP Framework to failure?

@adampatterson

You sure don't see these kind of reactions for Bootstrap clones, Copy-write issue aside... If you don't like it. Don't use it. Move on.

Pure and simple people.

The only way that this would ever effect you, is if it became more popular that Larval. All I see is someone adopting a great tool to their own work flow.

@robclancy

@adampatterson any time someone says anything negative about Laravel etc you get a bunch of fanbois flock to defend it. It's a common issue with PHP in general (due to low entry point). It has become less embarrassing as of late though.

@stivyw

Eu vim aqui deixar minha zoeira em português.
