Java 6 was originally released in 2006. As of December 2018 Oracle will no longer provide extended support for it (https://www.oracle.com/technetwork/java/eol-135779.html) and over 97% of the Java ecosystem has already moved to newer releases (https://snyk.io/blog/jvm-ecosystem-report-2018).

Even though the Flyway API will no longer work with Java 6 apps (the new baseline will be Java 7), the remaining Java 6 users can continue to use the Flyway Command-line tool as well as the Maven and Gradle plugins.
