Prepare for blog posts with clearer categories #8

  • Make categories top level, eg
  • Split index into sections based on category
  • Re-categorise some posts to fit new IA
  • Clean-up display of articles on thinner viewports, making it easier to scan for titles
  • Add figure tag in preparation for more content containing images

Some other tidy-up work:

  • Minify JS using UglifyJS
  • Replace as many http references with https as possible, including links where sites now support https
  • Remove old un-used IDs on posts
  • Deprecate support for IE8 and below

Add images to blog posts that are wrapped with correct tags, has alt
text and caption.

* Use the `figure` tag from
An unused artefact from wordpress migration
eg /experiments rather than /category/experiments
* Make it easy to display a list of posts in a given category
* Remove old “type” variables, an artefact from old photos section
* Use projects for articles about things done at companies
* Use experiments for code as well as experiments
* Use writing for thought pieces
* Re-title some articles to make content clearer
Shorten text, remove quotes.
* Shift date to the left
* Reduce font-size
* Make scanning titles easier
Deprecate support for older IEs
* Remove or update some previously broken links
