I would love to see this built into Fontforge out of the box. It's a major contribution by Linus, imho :)

Is there a way to make such a script collection part of this GitHub page? Is there a better way to do it? But yes, I like this and agree it should be included with FontForge, either as a script example or a fully integrated feature.
