gnome desktop popup menu is in english but should be german

Problem Explanation

All the gnome desktop is in german. All menus, everything, except for this popup menu.
The bug happens when Forge extension is enabled. Disabling the extension and doing a logout/login shows the correct german popup menu. This is easily reproducible multiple times by enabling/disabling the Forge extension.

Possible root cause mentioned there is:

My guess would be that some of them calls Gettext.textdomain(), which doesn’t just set the domain for the extension in question (as intended), but for the entire gnome-shell process.

This is on an EndeavourOS PC with up-to-date packages.

I tested the assumption about Gettext.textdomain().

I put a comment in front of the Gettext.textdomain call in messages.js:

That is solving the issue for me. The popup menu now stays in german even with Forge extension enabled.

EDIT:
The problem exists on debian testing also and the workaround works as well.

Hi @mabod, thanks for the report - this is a duplicate of #114. There is a PR to upgrade to GNOME 45 ESM (dropping the messages.js) and hoping that will fix the issue on the gettext/translations and thanks for the workaround/tip.
