I have a suggestion for how to make the Tommygun work in the game, at least on the map ff_Hunted. The main problems that the devs brought up is the balancing of its use and how useful it would be. To address the latter, as someone who used the tommygun on a sv_cheats 1 server, it was an adequate weapon against snipers and does provide a beneficial standing chance against them. To balance it out so that it would not affect other game modes, why not simply make it into a dropped item/weapon that only the civilian can pick up? To make it more interesting it can be spawned as a pickup weapon inside the truck of hats in that garage that has armor and health in Hunted. It is an optional area that nobody has to venture into but it would give the advancing red/blue teams another reason to go there. It is a risk/reward situation as the civvy will be using up spare time to get himself a means of personal protection that is not too powerful, nor too weak. It being an optional choice to grab the weapon makes it a more interesting game deciding moment. I hope you consider my suggestion, thank you!

Note that this is pretty much the current situation with the tommy gun. Any map that wants to add it to the civ on spawn, or add it in the map as a pickup can do so. Not totally sure, but since #281 it may be possible to add weapon pickups purely through Lua without altering the .bsp.

As for hunted specifically, I don't really have a strong opinion about whether or not it'd be a good addition.

I see, I think it would be cool to play around with as an idea.

I think the idea of risk and reward just makes the gamemode a bit more interesting since it will be entirely up to the player playing the civ. Could be added to the beta perhaps?

It would be fair if tommygun would be hidden somewhere on the map and civilian would have to make his path to every part of the map to find the gun which will help him dealing with enemies. This would make the hunted gameplay less linear and would force civilian and his guards to think of new paths every once in a while.

Note: tommygun can be picked only by civilian.
