Now that https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/texzilla/ has been approved by AMO, we know that we can safely integrate TeXZilla in new add-ons.

In particular one important case is Thunderbird. It would be great to have an add-on to:

  • Insert equations in emails.
  • Insert equations in the chat client.
  • Perhaps also translating TeX fragments when receiving messages?

Proposed name for the add-on: SpiniFeXBird

The "insert equations in emails" feature will be native in Thunderbird 31 and Seamonkey 2.28, so no need to create an add-on for that. See https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/Web/MathML/Authoring#MathML_in_email_and_instant_messaging_clients.
