It would be great to have a Type Provider for the Open Data provided by the European Union.

There are tons of information freely available to everyone, but the information itself is not easily discoverable. So a Type Provider (like the Freebase TP) would help tremendously to utilize this data.

This would require parsing the index page, parsing each item page to see what formats are available, and for the ones which have tsv expose that as a property. Unlike Freebase, it would be a big flat list of 6529 items, as there are no categories

I you want to start prototyping it, I suggest doing it in the HtmlTypeProvider branch and use the Html parser there

There also seems to be linked data API, which might be better than parsing HTML.

In principle, there has been some work on fully general linked data (aka semantic web) type provider, but I think that is a hard (research) problem. So building a type provider specifically for this source, but using the more general linked API to discover the data structure would make sense.

PS: I suggested @toburger to submit this as an issue so that we can keep track of it. Mainly to keep track because I'm interested in this sort of data myself :-) but it would be a fun project for prototyping!

Is there any prototype for accessing linked data (either C# or F#). I know zero about that. Where should I start reading?
