mini_login

Small macro to define unique random token generator for ActiveRecord.

How to Use

## Basic

class ApplicationController < ActionController::Base
  include MiniLogin

  # MiniLogin#login! creates current_user, otherwise raises MiniLogin::Unauthorized
  def login_required
    login! current_user
  end

  # If not logged in, redirect to login form
  rescue_from MiniLogin::Unauthorized do
    redirect_to new_session_path
  end
end

class SessionController
  def create
    user = User.find_by_email(params[:email])
    if user && user.authenticate(params[:password])
      login! user # MiniLogin as found and authenticated user
    else
      render :new # Authenticate again
    end
  end
end

Install

Supported Versions

Ruby 1.9.2

Rails 3.1.x and maybe Rails 3.0.x

Motivation

letmein is small and beautiful piece.

But with Rails 3.1.x, which came with SecurePassword, login solution could be more minimalistic.
