This is a fairly simple, typical setup for ExpressJS. index.js handles creation of the server and definition of routes. Models are stored in their respective directory. Controllers will define how services work and then get added to routes. Each controller is setup such that the individual functions are testable and then it provides functions that accept ExpressJS req/res objects so the function can be mounted as middleware to a route. This middleware can later be used with Google Cloud Functions if we were to deploy.
