I got a new D-Link DWM-157 C1 - identified as 2001:a407 D-Link Corp. in the default setting. After usb_modeswitch it becomes 2001:7d0e D-Link Corp. and creates four interfaces /dev/ttyUSB0 ...3

I can unlock the sim card (gammu --entersecuritycode) and identify the device (gammu --identify):
Device : /dev/ttyUSB0
Manufacturer : MTK1
Model : MTK2 (MTK2)
Firmware : 0.3.9
IMEI : xxxxxxxxxxxxxx
SIM IMSI : xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

But I cannot query the network (gammu --networkinfo):
Network state : unknown
Packet network state : unknown
GPRS : detached

or send a sms:
Sending SMS 1/1....waiting for network answer..error -1, message reference=-1
Unknown error.

Logs are attached.

sendsms.log.txt
networkinfo.log.txt

Is there anything I can do about it?
Thanks for your help!

I have located the culprit - the modem always starts with
AT+CFUN?
+CFUN: 4
It has to be set to AT+CFUN=1.
