Support rrd COUNTER submission with gmetric #32

From the old wishlist on sourceforge:

"Support for counters (metrics with +ve slope)
This shouldn't require much work (from memory, make sure the slope-type information is preserved and patch gmetad to create RRD files with the correct options). Currently Ganglia doesn't actually support custom counter metrics, which is an awkward limitation."

+1 on this issue

I should add that, since I was digging in the code, it sort of supports them.

Basically, if you submit metrics with a "positive" slope, it creates a COUNTER-type metric. It wasn't able to create DERIVE-type metrics, so I had put together a patch to support it, which is here:

Hi guys,
it looks like this went in master prior 3.4.0.
Yet, I've download 3.4.0 (from sourceforge) and it looks like is not available yet.

can anyone confirm if this is part of the official 3.4.0?
