Gantry 5.5.20 CI is ready for testing – your feedback is essential!

Hey everyone!

I’ve just released Gantry 5.5.20 CI build (https://gantry.org/downloads#ci-builds), and this one is packed with updates that need thorough testing before it can be considered stable. This release brings full PHP 8.3 compatibility, native Joomla 5 support (no Compatibility Plugin required!), and a brand new dark mode for Joomla 🎉.

What are the requirements for this build? Do i need to already be on Joomla 5? I don't mind testing my production site(s), its all I can do to contribute... I can restore from a backup pretty quickly. Or, it seems, uninstall this package and be back up and running.

It's just a regular package but development version. It would be great that you could test it on a separate, non production site. Just in case something goes wrong :)
Requirements in short: at least php 8.1.x, at least Joomla 4.x

I tried it, it did not go well. But that is my most complex site. I immediately got a 500 error. It was easy to recover. If there's something you would like me to do that might help, please let me know. I am an enthusiastic supporter.

Error Class "Leafo\ScssPhp\Type" not found Previous exceptions Class "Leafo\ScssPhp\Type" not found (0) I am guessing this is the error. There's an awful lot of other stuff behind it, but this appear to be the only thing actually saying "error"

Hey, presently having this exact same issue! 5.5.23.

PHP: 8.3.23 (other versions have different errors, but all 8.* have errors)
Joomla: 5.3.3

@Baphijmm you might want to check out this closed issue #3337 as well as this other issue, specifically this comment, #3335 (comment), which should help you figure things out.

Hmm.. w zasadzie to kwestia tylko usunięcia slasha w Atomie, ja dałem media/test.js i jest w porządku. Jak było wcześniej? Podawało się te dodatkowe slashe, czyli /media/test.js

Odkryłem taką zależność. W plikach js, css atomu UIKit na początku każdego z nich jest komentarz

I have a lot of particles using css by loading

css and js files are stored in theme_name/custom (https://docs.gantry.org/gantry5/advanced/file-overrides), if you're using the Hydrogen theme, they will be located in /templates/g5_hydrogen/custom. However, I believe this issue will occur regardless of where the CSS/JS files are stored within the theme.

However, after installing the latest Gantry 5.5.20 update, the framework started ignoring these custom CSS/JS files. Strangely, if I modify some CSS/JS files and reload the page, they load correctly. It seems like Gantry 5 doesn’t recognize these CSS/JS files and load them until they are modified.

If you need to test this issue, you can try using the Studius Quickstart package. First, set it up with Gantry 5 framework version 5.5.19, then upgrade to version 5.5.20. You'll notice that the pages break, and third-party CSS and JS files are missing.

Note: Tested with Joomla 4/5, php 8.1.31, latest Gantry 5 framework, and the Hydrogen theme. I didn’t encounter this issue with WordPress or Grav. It seems to affect only Joomla.

Hi @hexplor - I've just loaded up a copy of one of our Gantry/Joomla sites, installed Gantry 5.5.20 CI, upgraded it from 4.4.12 to 5.25 on a XAMPP local server running PHP 8.2.4 and MariaDB 10.4.28. We have our own highly customised Gantry theme. I've had a cursory look around and all of our custom Gantry templates look to be working fine with the exception of one minor issue.

We have dark mode turned off, because our custom admin extensions are all still designed for normal mode, but when I initially open a Gantry template for editing it loads up with dark styling. As soon as I click on a particle for editing, the dark styling disappears and it looks fine again. It's that initial page load that needs looking at.

The dark styling was also present when the test site was still on Joomla 4.4.12, which doesn't have the dark mode option anyway.

I'll have a through look at the test site over the next few days and see if anything else reveals itself, but it's looking good so far.

@hexplor There’s a bug with the Joomla module and Gantry 5 particle. Try creating a new Module -> select Module Type: Gantry 5 Particle.
You’ll notice a textbox instead of a button for selecting a particle. Existing particles will also appear as textbox with plain text content, instead of a button modal that includes the particle content and settings.

Quisiera comentar que por ahora, no he encontrado ningún bug o error durante el desarrollo. Dejaré por aquí la información relacionada a nuestro sistema.

• PHP Version 8.1.27
• Joomla! 5.2.1 - Joomla! 5.3.0 (esto varía de sitio a sitio)

Me causa curiosidad tener dos versiones de Bootstrap: Una para el paquete de Gantry 5 (Bootstrap 5.3.3), y otra para el tema de Hydrogen (Bootstrap 5.0.2), ¿hay algo que haya olvidado configurar? ¿Por qué se carga la versión más desactualizada y no la nueva?

Como mencioné, todo funciona sin problemas.
