What is Gatsby? | Gatsby Docs

During Hacktoberfest, you're probably looking to contribute to an awesome open source project. The Gatsby Docs are a great project to contribute to because you can learn about Gatsby while tackling a list of carefully curated issues, prepared especially for Hacktoberfest.

There are three main kinds of issues we're focusing on for our Docs Hacktoberfest:

  1. Content migration issues: We have many stub articles in our docs that need to be written, and luckily, much of the content has already been written in our blog and just needs to be migrated into the stub article! Any issues below that start with "content migration" fall into this category.
  2. Docs enhancement: there are some crucial feature enhancements that will make Gatsby docs easier to follow, such as a copy button on all code snippets. Look for issues below that start with "docs enhancement".
  3. Style guide: We have a new style guide, born out of careful consideration for making it easy for people to learn to build websites with Gatsby, and it would be super valuable to get help making sure each doc fits the style guide.

When I have a question, whom do I ask?

If you have questions about the Epic, start with the AoR Owner. If you have technical questions about a specific PR, ask the Tech Lead.

How will this impact Gatsby?

.org docs

During October, the goals are to:

  1. Increase the number of completed docs by using pre-existing content pulled from other places

How will we know this epic is a success?

Metrics to Measure Success

  • Merge one doc per day during the month of October!

What are the risks to the epic?

We could possibly make mistakes--putting content in the wrong places, for example. The PR review process ought to help mitigate this risk.

How else could we accomplish the same goal?

Hire a magical pumpkin to write the docs for us.
