POPVOTE (Hong Kong)
A reactive and verified politician ranking system for Hong Kong.
Live prototype: hk.popvote.org
Australian version: https://github.com/gazhayes/Popvote-Australia
Popvote aims to keep political leaders honest by removing any ambiguity about what their constituents want them to do. Constituents vote on issues (and create their own vote items that anyone can vote on) at all levels of government (distric council decisions and Legco decisions). Politicians are ranked based on how they perform in comparison to what the people want.
At election time, voters can see a ranking of candidates from best to worst, not only based on the majority opinion but also individually based on each individual user's voting history compared with each candidate's position on each issue.
A primary goal of Popvote is to rank all political leaders (local district council as well as Legco representatives) based on how they perform, thus providing the citizenry with a robust and transparent ranking and performance history when it comes to election time.
All Popvote HK users must be current holders of a permanent HKID and local phone number to prevent fabricated votes.
