Recover Data From IO Errors
If one of your drive starts giving I/O errors (it's probably dying!), and there is data on it that you really need (maybe it contains some files for which you specified only 1 copy by error!), you can try to restore some of the files using safecopy, which will try very hard to recover files from a dying drive, even if it throws a lot of I/O errors.
But you always use a number of file copies higher than 1 for files you care about, so this information should never be needed, right? :)
