Just let's leave here couple of links:

jsqrcode seems to be kind of unwidely, is it really necessary to have THAT many dependencies?

It would also need getUserMedia (availability wildly differs) or wrapped using PhoneGap/Cordova

Well, with Firefox OS we can use Web Activities or perhaps Web Intents will work elsewhere (Chrome?) and get the image directly.

@djmitche

https://github.com/penduin/ffos-qrscanner uses jsqrcode. Unfortunately, the resulting link is not clickable, and as far as I can tell there's no clipboard on ffos, so there's no practical way to set up auth for things like AWS which have a 64-character key (and which autocorrect mangles every time you look up).

I guess implementing a QR reader within the app could be possible, but yes... I am preferring an Intent solution.

Firefox OS does have a clipboard. I am not sure in which version this got introduced.

2.2 or even only Nightly, but you are not supposed to use it for stuff like that. Web Activities are the way to go.

Another option could be to allow a server push directly, something like https://github.com/google/google-authenticator/wiki/Key-Uri-Format. The application then could read this via a QRCode or Intents (web etc). However, I think for this to be credible, you would need #53 & #5

This addon (https://github.com/Sneezry/authenticator), even though it is only for Chrome, accomplishes it by taking a screenshot of the website and extracting any QR codes from it. Maybe something similar would be possible in a cross-browser way.
