New Feature:

GEOS-Chem 12.7.0 will now contain the following additional diagnostics:

  1. UVFluxDiffuse -- diffuse UV fluxes from FAST-JX (W/m2)
  2. UVFluxDirect -- direct UV fluxes from FAST-JX (W/m2)
  3. UVFluxNet -- net UV fluxes from FAST-JX (W/m2)

Fluxes will be computed for each of the FAST-JX wavelength bins:

187nm, 191nm, '193nm, '196nm, 202nm, 208nm,
211nm, 214nm, '261nm, '267nm, 277nm, 295nm,
303nm, 310nm, '316nm, '333nm, 380nm, 574nm

These netCDF diagnostics correspond to the ND64 bpch diagnostics.

Validation:

Comparing the UVFlux* diagnostics to the ND64 diagnostics results in differences at the level of numerical noise.

Here is a plot of a short (1-hour) test run at the top of the atmosphere (level 72) of the Diffuse UV flux at 303nm:
uvflux1

And the corresponding zonal mean flux:
uvflux2

The other variables show similar differences to the plots shown above.
