Adblock whitelisting without disabling anti-tracking #496

Wow, it’s so funny that literally the same request was made #493 a few days ago. Honestly, this wasn’t there when I initially thought about requesting it so I didn’t even check before posting mine. Closing this now and commenting there... |

Hello everyone! After playing with Cliqz Browser for a bit, it wasn’t hard to see one of its flagship features is anti-tracking. No surprises there but what could really set Ghostery apart from other adblock/privacy extensions on all browsers is having that simple toggle to disable ad and/or tracking blocking for specific websites that the user wants to support (even on Youtube) without disabling anti-tracking to not compromise from privacy. This would maybe require a more aggressive cookie blocking but I believe anti-tracking can handle it easily.
Now I know whitelisting is already pretty advanced in Ghostery and this is somewhat doable at the moment but making it a feature in my opinion can easily be achieved by having a whitelisting system similar to Cliqz Browser where when the user disables adblocking it asks if that’s for the domain they’re on or for all of them. This would also make Ghostery the first extension to have a proper way of letting users support the websites that they go on and maybe even start solving the all or nothing problem with the adblock lists in the long term.
