Extension sometimes doesn't activate on GitHub repository #1924

Version

  • GitHub Extension for Visual Studio version: 2017
  • Visual Studio version: 2.5.6

What happened

Steps to Reproduce

  1. Close Visual Studio
  2. Ensure that GitHub and Team Explorer panes aren't visible
  3. Close Visual Studio
  4. Open a .sln file that's in a GitHub repository with Visual Studio 2017
  5. Check Team Explorer and GitHub pane

Expected behavior: [What you expect to happen]

Repository appears at top of Team Explorer pane, PR list is visible on GitHub pane and PR icon appears on status bar.

Actual behavior: [What actually happens]

GitHub extension isn't active, repository isn't visible on Team Explorer/GitHub pane or and no PR icon on status bar.

I had a similar issue while doing a PR review, GitHub for VS stopped to see that I was in a git repo

I had it again this morning! And after doing a change like @jcansdale propose it, then it refreshed itself!
