Thanks for this. We have a template for yeoman which is a superset of bower. I know that there are plenty of times when you might use bower without yeoman, however my issue is that bower is one tool you use in a larger project rather than the predominant feature of a project.

Keep in mind the top of this repo's readme:

This is GitHub’s collection of .gitignore file templates. We use this list to populate the .gitignore template choosers available in the GitHub.com interface when creating new repositories and files.

Would you really think to choose bower from a gitignore template chooser (as in "start a bower project")? Probably not. As such I'm not sure that it warrants a separate template in this collection, especially since it's only one rule which is duplicated elsewhere.

I'm open to persuasion, though, so what are your thoughts?

Yeoman is not a superset of the bower.

I also thought that.
Yeoman can generate more common directory structure. And this is good guideline
From the above Yeoman's gitignore is better for Git beginner.
