@ the one to blame (@jvanbaarsen ? sorry if wrong): use: https://github.com/plasticboy/vim-markdown with:

autocmd BufEnter,BufRead *.{md,rst,html,haml,tex} setlocal spell spelllang=en_us

=)

@jvanbaarsen Its just a nice Vim plug-in that does code highlighting and enables spell checking on the right places (most of the time), that is, outside code and URLs.

When I opened the file with it, the typo was obvious. =)
