That way clients like Gitlab CI can decide to show or hide projects based on that information

Done. As I didn't see any checking for exposed attributes besides name and owner in the API spec, I didn't add it there. |

I'd like to adapt GitLab CI to not show projects that have been both archived and never configured. But for that, GitLab needs to expose the archived flag via API.
