As for FF, the only feature I think it actually lacks is the ability to always show node positions, and that's purely a preference thing (it's a real drag having to go to the View menu over and over).
Add drawing canvas toolbar button to Show All Point Co-Ordinates
Add a preference to store the activation state of this

However both show failure where points are close together. So a bonus task would be
like the Ruler tool, use some 'collision detection' to avoid overlapping co-ordinates

This is a great idea... Currently while using the Add Point to Path tool, I show a little "notation" that follows the cursor around showing the x/y coordinates for the new point. An on-canvas solution would be pretty easy.
