Describe the bug
Calling this a bug for want of a better term. Not sure what its label ought to be because it may not necessarily be a bug. More of an issue really.
This is, to a degree, related to the gns3-vm GNS3/gns3-gui#157 that i raised. Due to the "bug" I thought i will perform a fresh installation of gns3-vm 2.2.25 (worked without a hitch). I already had my previous gns3-vm started (the one that was the basis of the gns3-vm GNS3/gns3-gui#157). i migrated from the upgraded to 2.2.25 gns3-vm to the fresh install of 2.2.25 gns3-vm (worked without a hitch). i stopped the upgraded to 2.2.25 gns3-vm. i started the fresh install 2.2.25 gns3-vm. modified the IP settings to reflect the upgraded to 2.2.25 gns3-vm. that is, static IP settings, and bridged; main network adapter. second network adapter on both is NAT.
now here is the issue:
gns3-gui (2.2.25) doesn't see any of the qemu, vmware vm, and docker container templates.
GNS3 version and operating system (please complete the following information):
OS: MacOS 11.5.2
VMware: VMware Fusion 12.1.2
GNS3 GUI version 2.2.25 (run as straight GUI)
GNS3 VM 2.2.25 CPU:12;RAM:64G (All GNS3 services)
To Reproduce
Steps to reproduce the behavior:
Quit gns3-gui
Stop fresh install instance of gns3-vm 2.2.25
Start upgraded instance of gns3-vm 2.2.25
Start gns3-gui
View each of qemu vms, vmware vms, and docker container vms. All visible.
Quit gns3-gui
Stop upgraded instance of gns3-vm 2.2.25
Start fresh install instance of gns3-vm 2.2.25

view each of qemu vms, vmware vms, and docker container vms. None a visible.
happy to provide screenshots; don't believe they are necessary just yet.

I think the migration process only copies everything contained in /opt/ but the template settings are stored in ~/.config/GNS3. I will try to fix this soon.
no worries @grossmj. all good. i resolved it all by adding the bits that were missing manually. of course, they were already on the gns3 vm, just missing in the gns3 gui. i'm glad it wasn't me; you know, the device between the keyboard and the chair. all in good time mate. cheers.
