We ask the reader to implement an io.Reader, but it doesn't actually read from anything. It can be hard to see why this is a "Reader", or indeed what a "Reader" is. I think we need more detail on this topic.

Some pointers to whoever wants to help.

add a thorough discussion of the io interfaces

The discussion is currently limited to a short description here:

The io package specifies the io.Reader interface ... The Go standard library contains many implementations of these interfaces, including files, network connections, compressors, ciphers, and others.

We ask the reader to implement an io.Reader

refers to the exercise here.

For completeness, note there is one more reader exercise.
