net/http: No error on invalid port no 556677 #16766

  1. What version of Go are you using (go version)?
    1.6
  2. What operating system and processor architecture are you using (go env)?
    linux/386
  3. What did you do?
    A newbie created a http server to listen on port 55667, but a typo and 556677 instead

http.ListenAndServe("0.0.0.0:556677" , nil)

  1. What did you expect to see?
    An error message saying that 556677 is an invalid port no
  2. What did you see instead?
    The application just "died", no error message, no panic. App just failed silently.
