go 1.10.2

Does this issue reproduce with the latest release?


What operating system and processor architecture are you using (go env)?


What did you do?

I updated to the latest version of vgo and attempted to sync a project.

What did you expect to see?

Successful synchronization

What did you see instead?

A large number of intermittent (but non-fatal) errors looking like

go: writing go.mod cache: open C:\Users\username\go\src\mod\cache\\Microsoft\go-winio\@v\v0.4.7.mod.tmp*792734916: The filename, directory name, or volume label syntax is incorrect.

This appears to have been introduced with golang/vgo@00c6f96, which uses an asterisk as a separator character for temporary files here. Asterisks, however, are not valid in a Windows path.
