For some reason I can't assign you to these backports - your name doesn't appear in the list of allowed assignees.
Don't worry too much about it. No one is going to steal the backport issues from you...

I don't plan to do the backport for Go 1.11. If someone's interested enough, use https://go-review.googlesource.com/c/go/+/175919 as a starting point.

Since there is a workaround (namely, “build with 1.12”), I don't think a further backport is needed.
