Is this issue still actionable for Go 1.17, or is this better covered by other regabi issues, or should we move this to Backlog?

A lot has changed for regabi, and the original bad pointer issue is fixed.

There are other failures mentioned above, like the ARM ones and Solaris ones. But they are not regabi related.
