What is the reason that you could not retract this package instead?

I am moving the project to a new namespace. A retract directive, while solving the problem with the original package, will affect the new package as well. It would also, as far as I am aware, not remove the old package.

There is a chance I could be completely wrong. If that is the case, please feel free to correct me and I will close this.
