This is a compiler crash for somewhat strange but plausible code.

This is a generics issue that is not a revert. As we discussed in #53852 (comment) , we will stop backporting non-revert generics issues to 1.18, so we don't destabilize Go 1.18. Generics improvements will land on Go 1.19.x. Thanks.
