A hybrid bool/int flag is widely used for verbosity. We have copies now in at least cmd/dist and git-codereview. I think it'd make a very nice addition to the standard library.

Discuss.

It's a flag type used only for that one feature, in my experience, and was invented out of laziness: flag++ is easy to write and C had no booleans.

Let's not promote it further.
