Thanks for this PR, but, sorry, I'll stick to the stable 1.8 version, to keep 3rd party modules full compatible with our version.

Which 1.9 feature are you missing?

None actually, updated and built the package as an exercise for a blog post - only forked and PR since I'd already gone that far :)

1.9.0 has been released as stable (as i'm sure you've seen) - I didnt test all the modules - though i did test nginx-light and the rtmp module by hand, which is probably 0.01% coverage
