Welcome to Team 811's scouting app for the Steamworks Game. This guide goes over how to use the app properly and what each part means. This app comes in a 2 app package, the actual app and the decoder. The actual app is optimisted to run on a kindle fire or any 7 inch tablet. The decoder is optimised to run on any laptop or pc. To install the scouting app, plug in the device that is being used and drag the apk file into the download file on the device. Below will be a descrption of each app. If there are any questions or problems, leave an issue and we will try to get back to you as soon as possible.
The scouting app was designed to be run on 6 Kindles or other devices that would each scout one team each match. It has forms to fill out for both match and pit scouting, both of which will save the data to a file that will be imported into the decoder.
First, there will be a Pick Game menu, use the Steamworks game menu only because the Stronghold game was used as a test and is not fully fuctional
Second, there will be a menu to lead to either the match scouting menu or the pit scouting menu. Select the proper menu based on the type of scouting is being done.
In both the matching and scouting section there will be a lot of places to check off and enter numbers into many questions. Please select or type the apporpriate response to each question. All questions are looking for a certain data type as a response so be mindful of what you are inputting. For example, the Match Scouting form will ask about which gear hook a team used to place a gear. This answer must be either 1, 2, or 3 (when looking on from the driver station perspective, 1 is left, 2 is middle, 3 is right). Most other inputs are self explanatory. After the match scouting form, the app will immediately bring you to an additional notes page where you can leave general comments on the team's performance during this match.
The decoder takes the data sent from the Scouting App and converts it into text. The output is sorted into 'Pit' and 'Match' arrays.
The decoder comes with a search system, allowing for you to look up the any of the data of any team from any match (that someone on your team scouted). This works for both 'Pit' data and 'Match' data.
Also, the decoder comes with a sort system. This will sort by any given data point from either 'Match' or 'Pit'. It will put the more favorable results on the top, and leave the less favorable results on the bottom.
