We need to support non-US accounts in a robust way until we can do automated payouts. We need to collect mailing addresses and have a page from which we can write and eventually print checks.

If you have to choose between this and Paypal, go for Paypal. Paypal might be expensive but it's still less expensive than international checks for most amounts. International checks cost something like between 20 and 30 EUR of (fixed-)processing fee on the receiving side!

We now have a system for this: Tweet/dm your PayPal email address to @Gittip from the Twitter account linked to your Gittip account, and we'll disburse your funds.
